Our Driver Development Program gives you the power to succeed. Company Drivers have a comprehensive pay and benefits package that is tops in the industry.

Hiring Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 6 months verifiable Class A CMV experience in the last 3 years, unless a student coming from an approved school
  • Maximum of 2 preventable accident in past 3 years
  • Maximum of 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in last 3 years
  • No DUI's in the past 5 years
  • No felonies in last 7 years
  • Not currently on parole or probation
  • Minimum age of 23 years

Direct Deposit: Company Drivers are encouraged to take advantage of the convenience of weekly direct deposit of paychecks.

Drivers receive percentage-based pay for all line haul revenue. Other positions include B-Trains, Turnpike Doubles, Dedicated and Local. Talk to one of our Recruiters for more information.

Pickup / Drop Pay: Additional compensation varies per account for pickup or drop outside of the normal 1 pickup plus 1 drop situation for the average load.

Per Diem: Per diem is the amount the government feels is reasonable for drivers’ daily travel and work expenses. Thus, $52.00 of drivers’ income per day is not taxed for the number of days that they work that week. For example, if a driver earned $1,000.00 last week and worked five days, $260.00 of the drivers' gross income is not subject to taxes. Thus, your take-home pay is higher than it normally would be.

Holiday Pay: Company Drivers are eligible for holiday pay at a rate of $100.00 per day. This program rewards drivers immediately upon unit assignment.

Eligible Company Drivers will be rewarded six holidays annually:

Paid Vacation: All Company Drivers are eligible for paid vacation after successfully completing one calendar year of service.

1 week paid vacation each year after 1 year of service
2 weeks paid vacation each year after 3 years of service
3 weeks paid vacation after 5 years of service

Vacation will be earned and taken on an eligibility date basis. The calculation of vacation pay is based on the previous year’s gross earnings, (minus any non-revenue earnings such as training pay) divided by 52 weeks.

Toll Passes: We supply our Company Drivers with EZ pass. We reimburse drivers for other tolls – just turn in the toll ticket.
 
Health Insurance: Our low-cost comprehensive medical insurance program provides benefits to all eligible drivers effective the first of the month following 90 days of continuous employment.  This plan provides coverage in every state using the CIGNA PPO network.  Those electing coverage can make premium contributions before taxes (see rates below).  Employees and their dependents enrolled in the medical plan also receive comprehensive Dental and Vision Coverage FREE!

401(k) Plan: The company sponsored 401(k) Program is an industry leader. Company Drivers may choose to contribute up to a maximum of 10% of pay each period.
 
Safety Incentive Program:
Our company is committed to safety. Company Drivers who meet our safety guidelines are eligible to participate in our quarterly Safety Incentive Program. Drivers will be paid an additional percentage of the gross revenue based on the following schedule of continuous years of service with the company:

0-3 Years

1.25% of quarterly revenue

3-5 Years

1.50% of quarterly revenue

5+ Years

1.75% of quarterly revenue

In order to qualify for this additional compensation, drivers must meet specific eligibility criteria.

Stay Clean Program: All Company drivers receive a $50 gift card for every violation-free roadside inspection. 

Annual Service Bonus: Company Drivers who have achieved 10 years of service will receive a $500 service bonus annually. This payment will be made to eligible drivers on the first pay in December. All payments will be reflected on the next pay period after achievement dates.

Cell-Phone Reimbursement Program: All Company Drivers are eligible for a $25 monthly cell-phone reimbursement after successfully completing one calendar year of service. A cell phone number we can reach you on and a valid email address are all also required to receive this reimbursement. Payment will be made on the last pay of each month provided that the driver was actively on duty during the month.

 
Cell Phone Discount Program: We have a relationship with Verizon™ Wireless that offers discounts to our drivers for this service (see the "Verizon" link at the top of the page).
 
Driver Re-certification Physicals:
Our company requires the long-form DOT physical. Company Drivers are eligible for a $50 allowance towards their recertification physical upon submission of paid receipt. Drivers must always maintain a valid physical.

Detention Time Pay:
Drivers are paid their pay percentage of detention time charges. For example, if we bill the customer $75 an hour and a driver’s pay percentage is 26%, the driver would get $19.50 an hour detention pay.

Cancelled Loads Pay: Company Drivers are paid fairly for cancelled loads based on the situation.
 
Truck and Trailer Washes:
Company Drivers get one truck and one trailer wash per month that is paid by the company.

Scale Ticket Reimbursements:
Drivers will be reimbursed for scale tickets.

Minor Road Repairs to Equipment:
PGT will reimburse for minor repairs.

Rider Program: Qualified Company Drivers can request a rider certificate for anyone who is at least 12 years of age. Any rider under age 18 must be a relative. The driver must have a valid Rider Program Certificate in their possession from the Compliance Department. The driver of the unit must have a minimum of 60 days of employment with the company as a driver and a minimum of 6 months experience as a commercial driver in tractor/trailer combination.
 
Advances: To help with weekly expenses, we advance $100 a week to drivers. On Sunday and Wednesday, $50 is put on the fuel cards for drivers’ use. (Note: This money comes out of drivers’ pay if used.)

Slip Seating: We do not slip seat. Our Company Drivers have the opportunity to make their truck a home away from home. Please note: any equipment modifications must be approved by the head of Maintenance.

CD Players: Most of our units have CD players, but we cannot guarantee your initial unit will have one. We will do our best.

Elite Fleet: This driver program rewards Company Drivers who uphold the highest standards of performance and professionalism each calendar year. The program is designed to recognize the top drivers of the Company Fleet and actively promote the values of the “Proud Professionals.”

Events:

  • Golf Outing: This annual event is a big hit every year. Great prizes, a very nice golf course, good food and drink make this day a ton of fun. The event is a four-man scramble, so golfers of all skill levels can have a blast. All drivers are invited. Do not miss it!
     
  • Advisory Committee: This group of select Company Drivers meets quarterly with management to offer suggestions, concerns, etc. in an open forum that produces results. The group of drivers that attends is a diverse mix of company veterans, new drivers, drivers from different areas of the country, etc. All drivers have the opportunity to offer suggestions at any time, and all drivers can ask to be on this committee.
     
  • Safety Meetings: We hold Safety meetings in strategic areas around the country on a regular basis. Our drivers find these meetings very informative, interactive and fun.

Loading/Unloading: Drivers are not responsible for loading and unloading, except in extremely rare situations. 99.9% of our loads are no-touch. However, the driver is responsible for load placement, proper securement and tarping.
 
Fueling Policy: Drivers will be issued a Comdata card for use at our large network of approved fuel stops.
 
Home Time: We expect drivers to be home 2 out of 4 weekends per month.

Forced Dispatch: To stay competitive and offer regular loads to our drivers, we do require cooperation from our drivers to move loads, but we work hard to send drivers to their desired regions of the country.
 
Pets in Company Trucks: Sorry, no pets.
 
Our Truck Models: International Conventionals, 9400 series, straight ten speeds, with CAT or Cummins engines.
 
Taking Your Company Truck Home: You may take your truck and trailer home, provided a safe place to park is available. Dropping trailers and bobtailing is strictly prohibited.

Company Truck Modifications: To maintain a clean and cohesive company appearance, most modifications are not allowed to your truck.
