Safety is a core value at PGT, and this philosophy is supported throughout the company in everything we do. Management at PGT has established and continually supports the fact that “Safety is Everyone’s Job – All the Time!"

Driver Orientation Program

Our training is tailored for Company, Owner Operator and Lease Purchase Operators.

PGT is committed to having all Company Drivers new to the organization participate in and successfully complete its structured and comprehensive 3-Day Driver Orientation Program.  PGT’s goal is to make certain that all new drivers start their careers at PGT with adequate and proper safety and compliance training, the right tools and equipment, appropriate and adequate support systems in a safe, legal, and in a professional manner with a positive, customer-oriented service attitude.  

The Company’s Driver Orientation Program consists of comprehensive classroom and field (hands-on) training that covers a variety of subjects including company policies and procedures, pay and benefit programs, performance requirements, safety and regulatory compliance issues and comprehensive cargo securement procedures that exceed federal requirements.

PGT continues to work with our drivers’ quality of work-life issues and safety.

The Safety and Training Department has a detailed and consistent Owner Operator and Lease Purchase Orientation Program. Since our current Driver Orientation Program is a modular process, our goal is to select the most relevant modules (including but not limited to) cargo securement, defensive driving, accident prevention, vehicle inspection, and hours of service and develop each driver through interactive, multi-media CD and hands-on training. 

Safety Supervision

All PGT Drivers receive daily operational supervision from their assigned Fleet Manager. Safety is a key focus of PGT’s Driver/Fleet Manager relationship and is reinforced through PGT’s Safety and Training Department.
